Hootenanny Week Volunteer Schedule

Newport Rotary members and any other interested volunteers can help with Newport Halloween Hootenanny preparations. We have fun before, during and after (whew!). Everyone is welcome to help. Here's the schedule:Sunday, October 28, 2018 2pm-6pm @ the Newport Rotary Building

• Monday, October 29, 2018 5pm-8pm @ the Newport Rotary Building   
• Tuesday, October 30, 2018: TBA if needed
• Wednesday, October 31, 2018 (Halloween Hootenanny Day) 
• 8am setup @ the Little League Field 
• Noon lunch for volunteers at the Newport Rotary Building   
• 1pm resume setup @ the Little League Field 
• 5pm Volunteer call @ the Little League Field (Need everybody) 
• 6-9pm Hootenanny (Need everybody)  
• 9pm break set/ cleanup (Need everybody) 
• Thursday, November 1, 2018: TBA as needed...

How to Donate to the Hootenanny

Due to Hurricane Florence and its aftermath, we are receiving inquiries about how businesses and individuals can donate to the Hootenanny. We welcome all contributions. It is our first priority to keep the Hootenanny free to all participants!

If you would like to give, please contact Newport Rotarian Rick Smith at Super Center Mattress & Furniture, Ocean Way Plaza, Newport (between the bank and the ABC store) at 252-725-0078.

We have limitations on our ability to accept candy donations due to quality control and safety issues. We accept cash, checks and credit card donations. Newport Rotary, who coordinates the event, is a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization and can issue a donation receipt upon request for donations of $75 or more.

Hootenanny Fundraising Continues

To our Newport area sponsors, please be expecting a call or "drop-in" by a Newport Rotarian during the next 10 day run-up to the Hootenanny. Some adversely impacted businesses are deferring this year, but others are stepping up to the plate in a major way to make sure the Hootenanny, a 40 year Newport tradition, goes on stronger than ever. Newport is a special place! Thank you to our sponsors! 

Despite Florence, the Hootenanny is ON!

Despite the devastating storm damage in the Newport community from Hurricane Florence, the Newport Halloween Hootenanny will go on as scheduled, 6-9 pm on October 31, 2018. Newport Rotary, the coordinator for the event, indicated that returning a sense of normalcy to the community was important. While Newport Rotary does monthly community projects in and around Newport, a special project or donation will be made benefiting "First Responders" from the event proceeds. Be looking for "Newport Strong" posters in the windows of Newport and surrounding business sponsors this month.
