H Minus 7: Scenes from Hootenanny Preparation

(starting top left, clockwise) Hootenanny Sign at Little League Field, site of the Hootenanny; Rotarian Pam Wall prepares the "Parachute Peril" game; Aliens await at the Rotary Building; Rotarians Rick & Anita Moreau work on the event banners, now up on Chatham Street and Howard Blvd.

(starting top left, clockwise) Candy and games pieces stack up; Rotarian Winston Reese assembles a game; spooky backdrops are unpacked; and the Mad Scientist's lab starts to take shape.

Boo! Hootenanny Volunteers Needed

We are expecting a large turnout for the Newport Halloween Hootenanny at the Newport Little League field, Halloween night, Friday October 31, 2014. Newport Rotary coordinates the event, but adult volunteers are needed. The Hootenanny features 20 carnival style games that need 2 adults each to run.

Volunteers would need to be available for 5:30 check-in at the volunteer tent in the middle of the ballfield, and be present at the Hootenanny from 6pm to 9pm. No setup or teardown will be necessary. Chairs are available at each game, and duties will consist of running the carnival games (bean bag toss, putt-putt green, go fish, etc.), managing the line, handing out prizes, and having fun with the kids.

If you can help, please go to the Hootenanny website http://newport-hootenanny.blogspot.com/ and sign up in the contact box on the right side of the webpage or email your name and contact info to newportncrotary@gmail.com. We depend heavily on other local civic groups and churches to make the Hootenanny work. If you can coordinate a group of volunteers, please also let us know.

NEWPORT ROTARY.
