Annual Halloween Hootenanny Scheduled in Newport

The Newport Halloween Hootenanny will be held from 6:00-9:00pm on Halloween night at the Newport Little League Park on Howard Boulevard. The event features free admission, and includes over twenty children's Halloween games, a costume contest, hayrides, a petting zoo, bouncy house, and free hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy and drinks.

The Newport Rotary Club is coordinating this community event. Major sponsors for this year’s event include the Town of Newport, the Newport Pig Cooking Contest, Tim Necaise Nationwide Insurance, and Newport Roadrunners 4-H Club.

Over1500 children and adults participated in the event last year. The Hootenanny has been an annual event in the Newport community since the 1970s.

Adult volunteers are still being sought for running games, staffing concessions and general supervision. Numerous area churches, organizations and Rotary clubs also support the event with volunteers. If you would like to volunteer individually or with your group, call Rotarian Bevin Wall at 223-4411 or email at RotaryBevin@gmail.com.
